The Berkeley William Sloane Coffin Award honors and celebrates those who have A Passion for the Possible - a world of peace and justice for all - guided by the principles of moral courage and informed by alternative approaches to anger, violence and moral decay. This award was created to honor Cal faculty and students who demonstrate the qualities of moral leadership and empower others in the movement for justice and peace.
The qualities of moral leadership include:
- Displays moral courage in the face of injustice
- Fosters meaningful activism by...
- Mobilizing the campus community for peace and justice
- Offering alternatives to anger, violence, and moral complacency
- Inspires others to live reflective and purpose-filled lives
- Sustained and empowered by faith (the stories and practices of spiritual/religious traditions).
You are encouraged to nominate one or more professors and/or students for this year's award. However, you can only nominate one person at a time.
